About me.

I’m a Social Media and Communications professional, turned Marketing Manager. Using my thirteen years of experience, my aim is to help small-medium sized businesses find their narrative, and use it to shape their marketing strategy.

A little bit about my career.

I’ve been working with brands big and small for over 13 years. My words, ideas and even some photographs have graced the websites, social media channels, advertising and print materials of brands ranging from toilet roll manufacturers and trains, to fine jewellery and floor scrubbing machines.

Working agency side and client side, I have a good understanding of both. I understand the time pressures internal teams are under to get projects delivered. And the creative pressures agencies feel to deliver their best work so clients keep coming back for more.

The brands I’ve worked with include First Transpennine Express, Strata Homes, Kryolan Make Up, VK, Hoopers, Corkys, Graham The Plumbers Merchant, The National Crime Agency, Sheffield Hallam University, First Buses, SheffieldBID, Jessica Flinn, Flinn & Steel, MotorScrubber and more.

Of all the projects I’ve been fortunate enough to work on, my favourites have always been narrative based; evolving brand propositions, telling stories, bringing products to life in new and interesting ways, and simplifying complex content. Taking a multi-channel approach, by default.

My process.

Every brand, business and brief is unique, which is why I don’t have one set approach. If you choose to work with me, we’d have an initial chat where I’d ask a lot of questions - from current activity and challenges, to objectives and KPIs- to ensure I fully understand your brief.

From here I’d suggest the most suitable approach, and we’d work together to agree on a timeline, budget and deliverables.

How our work together looks is fully dependent on what your brand and business needs, and how you want to work. Think of me as an extension to your team.

What do I actually do?

Narrative-focused approach is a little abstract, isn’t it? In short, I craft compelling content to meet your audience’s needs and to connect with them. In practice this can look like some of the below:

Brand Story Development

I’ll work with you to understand your brand narrative. This is the who, what, why and who for. It’s understanding your purpose and your ‘reason to believe’. This will be delivered in a series of tangible and useful tools, such as mission and values, tone of voice guide, content guidelines and any other tools you need to tell your brand’s story.

Content Writing (web, blogs, pr, print)

Sometimes I just do words. I’ll take your existing content project and find the narrative within it. Working to your brand’s tone of voice, and writing in plain English, I can write content for websites, brochures, emails, blog posts, manuals, training documents and more.

Social Media Strategy

If you’re struggling with social media and you’re not sure how to get started, I can work with you to develop a strategy. This doesn’t always mean community management - oh no! We may agree that it’s better to give you the tools and confidence to tell your own authentic story through social media.

Email Strategy

From crafting regular marketing emails, to developing email automation and flows, I can get your email strategy in shipshape. We can take a look at how you’re collecting data (and make sure it’s compliant), segment your data and understand your customer journey to communicate and up-sell to them at the right times.

Content Capture and Delivery

On some projects I can capture content to tell your story through imagery and video, for use on social media and in blog posts. This is the newest string to my bow, so I won’t be offering this on all projects. It will be available as part of existing projects for the time being. Multi-Channel Comms Strategy

Finally, I can put on my Marketing Manager hat to create a multi-channel strategy to tell your story to the world. This doesn’t necessarily mean that I’ll be delivering it all - if it’s in my wheelhouse I absolutely will. If not I can connect you with some Find Narrative specialists who have specific expertise in SEO, PPC and more.

Some projects may call for specialists in areas outside of my expertise. You may require a targeted PPC strategy, an SEO approach that goes beyond optimising website content, a technical website wizz to make necessary changes, or a graphic designer to develop visual assets.

Over the years I’ve met lots of wonderful people who can do all of these things, and more. I can work with you to build a team to deliver your project.
